Qualification and skills
 A university degree in the field of international trade law, economics, business administration or any other relevant field in relation to the assignment OR in its absence additional work experience of at least 6 years in the field of trade in goods or private sector development;
 Computer literacy and familiarity with standard office software packages, email and internet use;
 Good communication and presentation skills;
 Fluency in written and spoken English
 Knowledge of Portuguese and/or French will be considered a strong asset and an added advantage; and
 Proficient report writing skills.
General professional experience
 Minimum professional experience of at least 6 years in the areas of Trade Policy development or implementation;
 At least 1 year of experience in research work at local, regional or international level; and
 Recent experience undertaking consulting assignments related to trade in goods would be an asset.
Specific professional experience:
 Must have prior knowledge on regional or international trade in goods issues, in particular on standardisation quality assurance, accreditation, metrology and conformity assessment, non-tariff barriers and customs/border management;
 Must have prior analytical work covering economic or trade in goods related matters;
 Prior work in the EU, SADC regions or other African countries would be an added advantage;
 Prior experience undertaking work on trade in goods involving the private sector would be an added advantage;
 Previous experience in drafting Action Documents (identification, formulation and action fiche) under the European Development Fund would be a significant advantage
