Central and Eastern Europe/Commonwealth of Independent States

  • Central and Eastern Europe, CIS: Within a framework contract we assist the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Among the Individual projects was a due diligence of a pharmaceuticals company in the Ukraine (2000 – 2001).
  • Belarus: Evaluation of an equity investment in a company producing prosthetics. The company produces artificial hip joints and surgical screws and plates. It has a patented process for fixing titanium to plastic without using cement. Our task was to enable the management of a large bank to assess the risks and opportunities presented by this proposed investment and to assess the technology involved and what will be its prospects for adoption. Assessment of the processes of and prospects for patenting and medical licensing and possible issues related thereto in key markets, particularly the US and Western Europe.


North Africa and Middle East

  • Algeria: In a project financed by UNDP/UNIDO and the client company we assisted a producer of personal care products in conducting a diagnosis and in preparing and implementing a 2 year business plan. The company produces and markets shampoos, different skin creams, gel and tooth paste, and similar products.
  • Egypt: PC&A assisted a group of Egyptian companies of the Medical Equipment/ Surgical Equipment Industry in achieving CE Marking.
  • Egypt: Within the Egyptian Private Sector Development Programme PC&A implemented a Strategic Alliance Project aiming at the establishment of strategic co-operation between Egyptian and European companies. The specific objectives of the project were to facilitate strategic agreements between six private sector companies of the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry and suitable European companies and to accelerate the strategic alliance process by providing targeted consulting support to the Egyptian client companies.
  • Jordan: Business Collaboration and Investment Promotion Project within the EU-financed Jordanian Private Sector Development Programme. We identified European strategic business partners for two pharmaceutical companies and assisted the Jordanian clients during their first negotiations with potential partner companies.
  • Lebanon – Under the EuroMed Partnership agreement between Lebanon and the EU PC&A was asked to carry out a Business Analysis and Diagnostic Study of 60 Lebanese SMEs from various sectors in order to help them improve their competitive position and thus prepare for new opportunities and increased competition resulting from the EU-Lebanese Free Trade agreement. Among the sectors were Agro-Food; Textile; Furniture; Printing; Detergents; Construction; Marble and Glass; Packaging and IT


Other regions

  • Japan: We realised a redefinition of the marketing and sales strategy in Japan for a leading Non-Japanese supplier of X-rays diagnosis systems.
  • Japan: We carried out a broad assessment of the Japanese Market for Patient Monitoring Equipment. This included analyses of the size and composition of the Japanese market, future market trends, product trends and profiles of several leading Japanese firms.
  • Japan/USA: The analysis of the cost structure and value chain of two Japanese producers of computer tomographs revealed how to re-engineer the value chain for a North American supplier.
