Bosnia and Herzegovina: Restructuring, business upgrading and privatisation of a chain of petrol stations, an oil refinery, and an oil and petroleum distribution company. - Macedonia: Identification, formulation and promotion of industrial investment projects Among the companies included in the project were:
- a company refining crude oil and producing LPG, gasoline, jet, diesel, heating oil and fuel oil;
- a producer of talcum and other non-metallic minerals.
- Poland: Assistance of one of the leading Polish crop protection chemicals company in the fields of strategy development, marketing & sales, reorganisation, management accounting, financial restructuring, working capital management.
- Russia: On behalf of the EBRD, we performed a technical, market and commercial assessment of p, a producer of packaging materials in plastics (Polystyrene and Polypropylene).
- Russia: Business upgrading assistance to s, a large chemical company producing ethylene, PVC and a wide range of industrial and consumer chemical products
- Slovakia: Assistance of one of the leading Slovak producers of plastics and rubber products. Development and implementation of marketing and sales strategy. Design and implementation of management information system. Introduction of working capital management system. Training.
- Slovenia: Restructuring of six companies in the chemical sector. Analysis of competitive position and identification of key success factors; assessment of product and process technology; financial analysis; evaluation of existing management and workforce organisation. Among the companies assisted have been:
- a producer of synthetic paints, varnishes and anti-corrosion products;
- a producer of car care products and cleaning agents;
- a company producing synthetic resins, paints varnishes and car-repair paints;
- a producer of methanol, formaldehyde, urea-formaldehyde, resins and adhesives for the wood industry.
- Turkmenistan: For the EBRD we performed a preliminary technical market and commercial assessment of e, a producer of woven polypropylene sacks.
- Uzbekistan: Post-privatisation restructuring assistance to JSC Uzbiopharm, a pharmaceutical company, Lok Bo’yok Zavodi, a producer of paint and varnish and Uzkhimpharm, a producer of pharmaceutical products
North Africa and Middle East
- Algeria: Business upgrading support to Laboratoires Venus Sapeco, a producer of cosmetics.
- Egypt: Establishment of a strategic alliance with a European company for a, a producer of veterinary products, b, a producer of various pharmaceutical products, c, an integrated pharmaceuticals group, d, a manufacturer of cosmetics and e, a producer of various pharmaceutical products.
- Lebanon: Under the EuroMed Partnership agreement between Lebanon and the EU PC&A was asked to carry out a Business Analysis and Diagnostic Study of 60 Lebanese SMEs from various sectors in order to help them improve their competitive position and thus prepare for new opportunities and increased competition resulting from the EU-Lebanese Free Trade agreement. Among the sectors were Agro-Food; Textile; Furniture; Printing; Detergents; Construction; Marble and Glass; Packaging and IT.
- Jordan: Diagnostic study for a Jordanian intermediate chemicals company.
- Jordan: Establishment of a strategic partnership with a European company for one of the two largest Jordanian pharmaceutical companies.
- Tunisia: PC&A provided assistance for the institutional strengthening of the Tunisian Technical Centre for Chemistry (CTC), a support institution for the chemistry sector. We provided recommendations for the setting up of a new and strengthened documentation centre, for improvements in the management structure and for necessary material and immaterial investments over a five-year period.
Other regions
- Austria: The largest Austrian oil and chemicals group asked us to perform a workshop with the management of the division and the parent company on the future options for the crop protection division.
- France: For the French subsidiary of a major German supplier of plastics and textile products for the automotive industry we developed and implemented options for the turnaround of the production of moulded plastics parts for the automotive and electrical industries.
- Germany: For the construction industry chemicals division of a leading German chemicals group, we evaluated the critical factors and assessed possible acquisition candidates in different European countries.
- Germany: One of the large German producers of Speciality Fertilisers asked us to develop a scheme and methodology to reduce the workforce from 1200 to 750 persons in a recently acquired nitrogen fertiliser plant in East Germany.
- USA: On behalf of a US manufacturer of carbon products used in the steel industry, an external assessment was made of the company's strengths and weaknesses, compared to significant competitors. Market requirements and key success factors were identified and several competitive analyses conducted.
- Western Europe: For a European manufacturer of electrometallurgical products relative costs were compared with the competition at each level and a new concept was created to reduce costs by reducing the number of manufacturing plants and enhancing their specialisation.
